Experience
Ms. Jakobe has been a criminal defense attorney for 21 years. It is the only kind of law she has ever practiced, and she was preparing for it long before she was admitted to the bar. She graduated from Gonzaga University in 2001 with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and a minor in Political Science, interning with the Spokane Public Defender’s Office while there. She went directly on to Gonzaga University School of Law and earned her Juris Doctor in 2004 while clerking for Washington State’s legendary criminal defense firm, Stiley & Cikutovich. In 2005 she joined the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office, transferring to the Office of the Legal Defender in late 2009. In those offices she handled everything from simple misdemeanors to murder and was in court almost every day, and she helped train other Arizona criminal defense attorneys at seminars and educational institutions.
After six years in Maricopa County indigent defense, Ms. Jakobe opened her own office in 2011. She started small, but she had already earned a big reputation in indigent practice: smart, original, and aggressive. Word traveled quickly through Maricopa County, and she was soon retained by some of Arizona’s most high-profile and infamous clients.
Her practice focuses on violent crimes, drug trafficking, organized crime, and sex crimes. She has built a record of dismissals and favorable resolutions by working cases up early and aggressively through pretrial motions and litigation. She has dedicated herself to quality over quantity, and every client can expect Ms. Jakobe to live up to her name.
